The Madras High Court has lifted the stay put on the release of ‘Kavalan’ responding to a case filed by J K Saravanan, proprietor of Tantra films from Singapore.

In his petition J K Saravanan had alleged that producer Romesh Babu had promised overseas rights of the film to him for Rs five crore and took Rs 1.5 crore as advance but later sold the rights to Cinema Paradise instead of Tantra Films.

Justice Rajeshwar who heard the case on Friday examined J K Saravanan after which he vacated the stay. As per the judgment, Shakthi Chidambaram and Romesh Babu have struck a compromise with J K Saravanan by giving him the colour lab contract.

Shakthi Chidambaran who has got the sole rights of the film has said, "The ban on ‘Kavalan’ has been lifted and so the film will release worldwide by December end without any hurdle."

The audio launch of ‘Kavalan’ film will happen in the first of December and later the move will release worldwide with over 1000 prints.

"ஆமாம். திருமண வரவேற்பில் ஜெயலலிதா மேடத்தை எதிர்பாராத விதமாகச் சந்தித்தேன். அவங்க மணமக்களை பார்த்துத் திரும்பும்போது, நான் தம்பதியை வாழ்த்த படி ஏறிட்டு இருந்தேன். அவ்வளவு அவசரத்திலும் கூட்ட நெரிசலிலும் எனக்காக சில நிமிடங்களை ஒதுக்கினார். ரொம்ப சந்தோஷமா இருந்தது. 'எப்படி இருக்கீங்க?'ன்னு பாசமா விசாரிச்சாங்க. "சினிமா உலகத்தை உற்றுக் கவனிக்கிறவர் நீங்க. இப்போ எப்படி இருக்கு தமிழ் சினிமா?"

"எனக்கு ஷங்கர் சாரை நினைச்சா, பெருமையா இருக்கு. யார் வேண்டுமானாலும், என்ன வேண்டுமானாலும், யோசிக்கலாம். ஆனால், திரையில் கொண்டுவருவது... அது வேற மாதிரி பொறுப்பு. அதை எப்பவும் அருமையா செய்துட்டே இருக்கார். ஒரு தமிழனா எனக்கு சந்தோஷமா இருக்கு. அமீர் டைரக்ட் செய்த 'பருத்திவீரன்' வந்து மூணு வருஷமாகிவிட்டது. ஆனால், அந்த சினிமா இன்னும் என் மனசைவிட்டுப்போகலை. ஒவ்வொரு ஃப்ரேமும் மனசுக்குள் இருந்துக்கிட்டே இருக்கு. அமீர் இந்த மாதிரி நல்ல சினிமா செய்தால், நாம் கொண்டாடலாம். நான் கொண்டாடுறேன். அடுத்து சசிகுமார். அவர் பண்ணின படம் 'சுப்பிரமணியபுரம்'. முதல் படமே இப்படி பரபரப்பில்... சமீபத்தில் யாராவது இப்படிச் செய்து இருக்காங்களான்னு பார்த்தா, ஞாபகம் வரலை. எனக்கு எல்லோரையும் பிடிக்கும். என்ன... இவங்களைக் கொஞ்சம் அதிகமாப் பிடிக்கும்!"

This is star power. Why else would hordes of fans brave the blazing sun for hours on end, just to get a glimpse of the star? Needless to say, the crowd goes delirious as he greets them; their mobiles click non-stop as he comes over to pose for photographs. Such is the star power of Tamil actor Vijay, who was shooting for director Siddique's ‘Kaavalan' at Varikkassery Mana in Ottappalam, Palakkad.

Overwhelmed by the adulation, Vijay says: “I should thank God for this. I am really touched by the affection of my Malayali fans.” His ‘Kaavalan' is the remake of Siddique's Malayalam film ‘Bodyguard.'

Action comedy

“The storyline hasn't been changed and I believe the inherent innocence of the hero is one of the key aspects in the film as well. Some changes have been done, though, keeping in mind the Tamil audience. The story moves ahead as an action comedy rather than a dialogue-oriented comedy. I have watched the original and Dileep has done a wonderful job in it. Here, I am just following what the director tells me to do,” he says.

Siddique and Vijay had worked together in ‘Friends.' In ‘Kaavalan' Asin plays his heroine. “I have worked with her in films such as ‘Sivakasi' and ‘Pokkiri'; she is a dedicated actor,” says Vijay. Mithra Kurian, Krishna Kumar and ‘Guinness' Pakru from the Malayalam film industry are also part of ‘Kaavalan,' along with Tamil actors Raj Kiran, Vadivelu and Roja.

The actor, who seems to reserve all the livewire actions and dialogues for the screen, admits that that he is an introvert. “In my mind, though, I am an extrovert – the kind that you see in my films. I do observe people and that helps me a lot as an actor,” says the actor.

He says he believes that the purpose of films is to entertain and as such he prefers formula films. “I look for roles that suit me. My concept of a film is that it should be able to connect with the audience perfectly,” says the self-confessed movie buff.

What kind of films does he prefer to watch, then? “I am in awe of films such as ‘Moondram Pirai' and ‘Mahanadi.' However, I would opt to see a masala movie like ‘Annamalai,' if it happened to release with the other films. That perhaps explains my choice of films,” he says with a laugh.

Vijay adds that he also has great regard for Malayalam films and if there was one where he would have liked to play the lead, it would be ‘Kireedam.'

Vijay's son Sanjay was seen in a song sequence in ‘Vettaikkaran' and was set to be part of ‘Kaavalan' as well. Explains Vijay: “He is concentrating on his studies now. Other than that, his focus is on cricket. If he wants to pursue a career in films, he is free to do it after he grows up.”

The interview concludes and as he begins to walk back to the set, he doesn't forget to wave to his fans. That's a star.

1) இளையதளபதி விஜயின் இயற்பெயர்: ஜோசப் விஜய் ஜீன் மாதம் 22திகதி 1974 ஆண்டு சந்திரசேகர் சோபா தம்பதிகளுக்கு மூத்த மகனாக பிறந்தவர் விஜய்.

2) விஜய்,Balalok virugambakkam and visual communication loyola கல்லூரியில் படித்தவர்.

3 ) விஜய்க்கு வித்யா என்ற 2 வயது தங்கை சிறுவயதிலே இறந்து விட்டார், இவ் சம்பவம் சிறுவயதிலே விஜயை மிகவும் பாதித்தது.

4 ) இலங்கையை சேர்ந்த லன்டனில் டாக்டருக்கு படித்து வந்த சங்கீத சொர்ணலிங்கம் அவர்களை ஆகஷ்ட் 25,1999ம் ஆண்டு லன்டனில் விஜய் திருமனம் செய்தார்.

5 ) இவர்களுக்கு இரண்டு குழந்தைகள் இருக்கின்றது : சஞ்சய் (26/08/00)லன்டனில் பிறந்தவர் மற்றும் திவ்யா (09/09/2005) இந்தியாவில் பிறந்தவர்.

7 ) விஜய் குழந்தைப் பருவத்தில் இருந்தே தன்னுடைய தந்தையின் படங்களில் நடித்து வருகிறார். பின்னர் கதாநாயகனாக நடிக்க தொடங்கினார். கதாநாயகனாக அவர் நடித்த முதல் படம் நாளைய தீர்ப்பு. பின்னர் அவரது தந்தையின் இயக்கத்தில் கதாநாயகனாக பல படங்களில் நடிக்கத் தொடங்கினார். தந்தையின் இயக்கத்தில் விஜயகாந்தின் நடிப்பில் வெளியான 1984ஆண்டு வெற்றி என்ற திரைப்படத்தின் மூலம் விஜயகாந்தின் இளைய பருவ நாயகனாக சிறுவயதில் குழந்தை நட்சத்திரமாக முதல் முறையாக நடித்தவர்.
